Martha Lawson
Educational Director
Martha brings to the team over 35 years of experience in public and private education. She has a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, MA in Special Education from George Washington University and an Administrators Certification from Lehigh University. Beginning her teaching career in an inner city neighborhood of Washington DC, Martha recognized that working with the “tough to reach” was her calling. Since that time, she has taught students ages 5-21 in general and special education classroom, trained master teachers at the Centennial School of Lehigh University, served as a full time Assistant Professor of Special Education at Marywood University, designed, developed and supervised educational initiatives for the Seattle School District and privately consulted as a family and child specialist. Her specific areas of expertise center around designing sustainable educational systems to meet diverse learning needs, development of teaching tools to assist in a deep understanding of what all people need to feel connected and empowered, and developing meaningful integrated programming for students at-risk.
Martha has been involved in community of various kinds since the 70’s and strives to bring the spirit of sustainability to all part of a working community life- housing, technology, personal relationships and education.
